About the MTTA Hut and Trail System

North America's largest No Fee Hut-to-Hut Trail System.  Approximately 50 miles of trails, 20 miles groomed, three huts, and a yurt.  Operated and managed by a Non-Profit Association in cooperation with our host landowners.

Skier on ridge with Mt Rainier The trail system provides three huts and one yurt as overnight accommodations.  Other than a nominal permit processing fee, there is no charge, as long as you show up for your reservation and leave the huts in good condition.  The huts and yurt are available for day trekers to use as a rest place and lunch facility.

All facilities have propane heating stoves, sleeping pads, propane lights, a complete kitchen, tables, chairs, etc.  All you need to bring is a sleeping bag, food, and emergency gear in case you need it on the way to or from the facility.

Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. They can be made in person at Whittaker Mountaineering in Ashford, or delivered to the MTTA office by mail or in person on winter season weekends.
